People come to us with some of the most personal problems they will ever have online. This page separates what is in place today from what is still being built.

In place today

  • All traffic to the website is encrypted (HTTPS only).
  • The start form accepts contact details, links and a description — no files.
  • If you were under 18 when the material was created, links and descriptions are discarded automatically and you are pointed to specialised services.
  • Requests are stored on our EU server in a file readable only by the hosting account.
  • Server logs record events and reference numbers, never names, email addresses, links or descriptions.
  • No analytics, advertising or tracking cookies; a strict Content Security Policy blocks third-party scripts.
  • Automated submissions are filtered, and repeated requests from one source are rate-limited.

Being designed

  • A secure case area where you can follow progress without email threads.
  • Encrypted storage for any case material, with access logged.
  • Matching based on image fingerprints, so the original content does not need to be kept.
  • Separate staff permissions for sensitive case types.

We describe these as planned because they are. We will update this page as each is in place.

Principles

  • Collect less

    We ask only for what is needed to act on a case. The website does not accept image or video uploads at all.

  • Restrict access

    Case information is only for the people handling that case. Intimate-content and deepfake requests are flagged for more restricted handling.

  • Keep only what is needed

    Retention periods are being finalised with legal advice. Until then, you can ask us to delete your request at any time.

  • Stay in Europe

    Hidedit is a European service. The website and its request storage run on a server in the EU.
